The Prime Minister has approved the summary for the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir

 
The Prime Minister has approved the summary for the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as Chief of the Army Staff as well as Chief of the Defence Forces, and has forwarded it to the Presidency.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will now serve simultaneously as the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of the Defence Forces.

This appointment is for a tenure of five years.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will be the country’s first-ever Chief of the Defence Forces.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also approved a two–year extension in the service tenure of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu. The extension will take effect upon the completion of his current five-year term in March 2026.
